-The testator must be of sound mind and over 18 years of age.

-Witnesses must be over 18 years of age and not be beneficiaries of a will.

-The will must be dated.

 

When is the will to be revoked in Turkey?

A will in Turkey is invalid only if it does not comply with the procedures stipulated in the Turkish Civil Code and the will must be in writing and signed by the testator in the presence of two witnesses.

 

Who inherits real estate in Turkey?

The rules of inheritance in Turkey are governed by the Turkish Civil Code. By law, the property is inherited according to the following rules:

-If the deceased left a spouse and children, the spouse inherits a quarter of the estate and the three children inherit the remaining quarters.

-If the deceased left a spouse and no children, the spouse inherits half of the estate.

If the deceased left children and did not leave a spouse, the children inherit all the inheritance.
